A Different Approach to Rail Simulation
Founded in 2010, Avansim was created in response to a clear need within the rail industry for better simulation technology—systems that deliver genuine realism, integrate closely with operational networks and reflect the way operators actually train and assess their people.
Since then, we have developed an increasingly comprehensive range of simulation hardware and software, delivering projects across the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Indonesia and beyond. From driver training simulators and control-room systems to safety and competency tools, every solution is shaped around the specific operational requirements of the customer.
Our core technology is designed and developed in-house by a specialist team with extensive rail simulation expertise. Rather than relying on generic, off-the-shelf simulation packages, we create carefully engineered, tailored systems that reproduce each customer's vehicles, networks, procedures and training needs with exceptional accuracy.
Every Avansim solution is developed by our multidisciplinary team, bringing together expertise in software engineering, 3D modelling, hardware design, assembly, system integration and project management. This end-to-end capability gives us close control over quality, delivery timescales and the accuracy with which each system reflects the customer's real-world operating environment.
We work collaboratively with every customer throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial planning and requirements definition through system development, testing, delivery and installation to training and ongoing technical support.
Every simulator is tailored to the customer's vehicles, routes, operating procedures and training objectives.
Our software, hardware and simulation content are designed, developed and integrated by our own specialist team.
We work closely with customers throughout the project, ensuring their operational knowledge and feedback inform every stage of development.
Our experienced and responsive team can make decisions quickly, adapt to evolving requirements and provide customers with direct access to the people delivering their project.
Rail is one of the most environmentally efficient forms of transport. By helping operators train their people more safely, consistently and effectively, simulation supports reliable services, efficient driving practices and the continued growth of sustainable transport networks.
Simulation-based training allows drivers and operational staff to practise responding to hazards, faults and emergency situations in a safe, controlled and repeatable environment.
Simulator-based training reduces reliance on energy-intensive training runs and allows a greater proportion of learning and assessment to take place away from the operational network.
Simulators are available around the clock, without requiring training vehicles, access to live track or disruption to passenger services. Training can continue during engineering possessions, isolations and periods when operational resources are unavailable.
Avansim helps operators develop and maintain the skilled, confident workforce needed to support increasingly complex and expanding rail networks.
By making high-quality training more accessible, efficient and sustainable, Avansim helps customers improve operational performance while reducing the environmental and logistical demands of traditional training.
